When Comes the Reaper

When Comes the Reaper

The Timeless Farmer painstakingly scans the incubation potential of his great, fertile expanse.

He considers the time of sewing and the amount of tedious planting to be done by hand.

Cradled tenderly in the care of the soil, the rain, and the sun, the tiny seeds await.

The Caretaker; omnipresent and watchful, ensures that the essentials are never late!

At once, eager, young plants extend their grateful arms toward the warmth they receive.

As they grow stronger and taller, The Timeless Farmer observes their progress and is pleased.

He bestows more and still more of his gracious care to whet their appetites for vertical growth.

The chronometer spins, and a startlingly noticeable schism forms in the ways the plants decide to go.

The humble and obedient crop thrives on the essentials and strives to grow vertical and upright.

Perhaps they are driven by a wise recognition of The Farmer's desire to see their potential become might.

Alas, the ungrateful, disobedient crop expresses its' disdain by proceeding in odd angles and rudimentary health.

Falling victim to the influence of cicada and aphids, they soon appear farther from life than death.

Perhaps they felt that they could correct their angles to vertical positions before the long foretold harvest comes.

A grainy position indeed: one more akin to the slack-hearted misgivings of lazy slatterns and bums.

So the healthy, humble crop maintains a constant quest for greater expanse and the strength of standing upright.

The bitter disobedient crop once again lays their tasks aside until tomorrow; not knowing that the reaper swings his sickle tonight!
